City walk through the old centre and past Vlissingen's maritime highlights

Discover Vlissingen during an 8 km walk past rugged maritime locations, old fortifications and the ever‑changing Westerschelde. You walk through a city that grew through shipping, trade and sea heroes — with Michiel de Ruyter as its most famous name.

Enjoy historic streets, harbours full of stories and viewpoints where enormous ships pass by every day.
Along the way we pause at Vlissingen’s role in the Dutch Golden Age and the liberation at Uncle Beach. Let yourself be guided through a city that lives with wind, water and a rich maritime past.

Arriving by car? Park for free at P+R station / ferry harbour. From here it is about 1400 metres walking along the Westerschelde to the first point of interest.

Coming by bike? Park it in the bicycle racks at the Nieuwendijk (opposite the MuZEEum) or in the guarded bicycle parking inside the Scheldeplein parking garage.
